Richard Byworth has served as Chief Executive Officer of Diginex since August 2018. Mr. Byworth served as Managing Director at Nomura from September 2007 to March 2018 where he ran Multistrategy Sales for Asia Pacific product globally. Over a 14-year period, he led Nomura’s Asia distribution initiative, building and maintaining the number one franchises in convertible bonds and flow derivatives. From September 2000 to December 2004, Mr. Byworth worked at Nomura in London as a proprietary trader running dispersion portfolios in equity derivatives and convertible bond risk arbitrage. From August 1999 to August 2000, Mr. Byworth worked at BNP Paribas, and has experience in providing advice to a number of Fintech start-ups. Since December 2017, Mr. Byworth has also served as a board adviser to Privatemarket.io, a secondary private equity marketplace. Mr. Byworth holds a Bachelor’s degree in French with Management from Royal Holloway, University of London.
Paul Ewing has been the Chief Financial Officer at Diginex since August 2018. Mr. Ewing has spent more than a decade working in Asia and was the regional Chief Financial Officer at ICAP Electronic Broking (“ICAP”) from November 2006 to November 2010, as well as Chief Operating Officer for ICAP’s electronic broking division from November 2010 to December 2013. From December 2013 to August 2017, Mr. Ewing was Chief Financial Officer of APAC Broking for ICAP plc. From September 2017 to July 2018, Mr. Ewing served as the Chief Financial Officer for RKR Capital, a proprietary trading business with a focus on financial markets and digital assets. Mr. Ewing holds a degree from Manchester University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales.
Stelios is Chief Legal Officer at Diginex based in Hong Kong, where he heads the legal function. Previously, he was General Counsel and a member of the management team of Lazada Malaysia (Alibaba Group’s South-East Asian e-commerce platform), Lazada Express (Alibaba Group’s logistics operations division) and helloPay, which is now part of Ant Financial. Prior to this, he was the Head of Legal and Compliance at British American Tobacco Japan in Tokyo. He has also worked at Alstom, Xgemina, the Commission of the European Union (External Trade) and at several leading law firms in Europe, the US and Japan. He was admitted as a Solicitor at the Superior Courts of England and Wales, was admitted at the Brussels bar, and holds an LLM from King’s College, University of London.
Sheel Kohli is currently Chief Marketing Officer of Diginex, based in Hong Kong, where he leads the marketing and communications strategy for the company, and is a member of the Executive Committee. He is responsible for developing and implementing the company’s marketing approach, so that it has a differentiated and enduring presence, and leads our efforts to distinguish the company as one of the most innovative digital asset financial services groups in the world.
He has been in marketing, communications and journalism for 25 years, working in the financial services and technology industries. Before joining Diginex, Sheel was Chief Marketing Officer of AAX, the world’s first cryptocurrency exchange powered by LSEG Technology, part of the London Stock Exchange Group, and prior to that he was a Member of the Executive Committee and Global Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Block.one, publisher of the EOSIO blockchain protocol, which is one of the world’s fastest and most used blockchains the world.
He also spent 13 years at Credit Suisse, where he was Managing Director and Head of Corporate Communications for Asia Pacific, and he also spent five years at ING Group as Head of Corporate Communications and Branding for Asia Pacific. Sheel began his career in journalism, where he worked for a number of UK national and trade titles, while also serving as the Europe-based Business Correspondent for the South China Morning Post.
Ray Hennessey is currently Chief Technology Officer at Diginex based in Hong Kong where he is responsible for overseeing the technical implementation of Diginex’s products and services.
Ray has over 30 years of experience executing high quality technology projects in Asia and the US having worked in the investment banking, risk, technology and exchange fields. He Previously he was the CTO at Liquid, Japan’s largest crypto exchange and was responsible for all technology initiatives supporting global clients.
Prior to this, Ray lead the team responsible for the technology implementation behind Thailand’s National Payments Infrastructure, one of which is a payment system now used by over 50 million people. Ray has also previously held technology and transformation roles at KPMG, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs.
Jim Pollock is currently Chief Operating Officer at Diginex based in Singapore, responsible for overseeing the implementation of the company’s business strategy, which includes the development of fully regulated and institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure for the financial services sector.
A senior financial services executive with over three decades of experience in multi-jurisdictional business development, transformation, regulation, risk and finance, Mr. Pollock previously held the title of COO in several of Westpac’s business lines in Australia and Singapore.
Prior to this, he spent 15 years at Merrill Lynch, where his roles included CFO for North Asia & Regional Financial Controller.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) from University of Western Australia.
Neil is COO of Financial Services, responsible for overseeing Diginex’s financial services division including capital markets, trading, exchange and trading products. Previously, he spent 13 years at Nomura in various roles across equity products in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Most recently, Neil was Managing Director, Head of Equity Trading for Asia, managing complete equity and equity linked product trading. Also, during his time at Nomura, he was also Global Head of Equity-linked Content and Trading, where he created and built an award-winning desk analyst team for both internal and external client use including managing their own trading books. Prior to this, Neil worked at Cazenove Group, in the Convertible Bonds Research, Sales and Trading functions. Neil holds a MEng (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering from University of Bristol. He is a CFA charterholder, holds Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and a Securities Institute Diploma in Equity Derivatives.
